Now, time to decide how to check in with Jody.
Responses
- Message Jody, "Oh no did you see this? People are being so mean to you right now."
- Coach: Instead of messaging Jody and focusing on the bullying itself, you could show Jody support by asking how they're doing.
- Message Jody, "I wanted to check in how are you feeling?"
- Coach: By directly asking Jody how they're feeling, you give them space to share what's on their mind. Letting Jody know you're there for them if they ever want to talk shows that you're a supportive friend.
- Message Jody, "It's been a minute, do you want to go to the movies or something?"
- Coach: You chose to distract Jody by offering to hang out sometime to take their mind off whatever they're going through. Making time for someone shows that you care and support them.
- Message Jody's friends, "Can you check and make sure Jody's doing ok?"
- Coach: You delegated to Jody's friends to check in with Jody. Especially if you don't know the person being targeted, it can help to see if their friends are aware of the situation and encourage them to support the target.
