Reaching Out to Antoine and Judith

Pic 0: A title card appears before the screen fades to a scene where Austin and Antoine are talking on the phone to each other.

Austin: Hi, Antoine. This is Dr. Singh’s office.

Antoine: Oh, hi.

Austin: Last time you were here you got a referral to speak with Dr. Eber. We just wanted to check in and see if you’ve been able to make an appointment with her yet.

Antoine: Uh, yeah, yeah, I did. I’m seeing her next week, actually. Next Tuesday.

Austin: That’s great. Then we’ll see you when you come back for your follow-up appointment. And how’s your back doing? Did you get a chance to make an appointment with the orthopedist, as well?

Antoine: I have an appointment with that doctor next week, too, so. Thanks so much for asking. And, uh, I’ll see you after. Thanks for calling.

Pic 1: The screen fades to an exam room where Austin and Judith are talking.

Austin: So, Judith, how has the physical therapy been going?

Judith: Good. I’ve been able to go several times, and they’ve showed me some exercises that have been helping.

Austin: Oh, I’m so glad to hear that. And, the last time you were here we talked about you seeing a mental health specialist, Dr. Eber. How’s that been working out?

Judith: Oh, well, I haven’t had a chance to get there yet, but I’m planning to do that soon.

Pic 2: The screen fades out and changes to a close-up of Dr. Eber at the table.

Dr. Eber: If you don’t ask how psychotherapy or medication is going, and clients don’t volunteer the information, you may never know if they’re following through on their treatment plans. In Judith’s case, use this opportunity to discuss in more detail the barriers that are preventing her from making the appointment.

Pic 3: The camera widens to include Austin at the table.

Austin: And, of course, Dr. Eber and Dr. Singh will consult with each other as they both treat Antoine and Judith.
