It's common for veterans to experience some post-deployment stress when they come home. This stress could come from financial or health issues, from PTSD or depression, or just from the pressure of switching between military and civilian life. It's difficult to get used to being home again. Your veteran had to change to adjust to the military, and may have difficulty changing all over again when arriving home. Many veterans feel so out of place that they consider going back.

Many military families notice their loved ones experiencing signs of post-deployment stress like withdrawal from family and friends, anger, alcohol and drug use, and sleep problems. The veteran may avoid particular trigger situations - like loud noises or crowded public places - and this may lead to lifestyle changes.
