CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION

You’ve been asked to take this course because you have been treated for Congestive Heart Failure, which we also call CHF. Congestive Heart Failure may sound scary – but it doesn’t mean that your heart is about to stop. CHF is a condition that you can really live well with – you just have to know how.

You’ll be taking the course over the next few days of your hospital stay. If you do not finish before you leave the hospital, don’t worry, you will be able to finish taking the course anywhere with a computer with an internet connection.

You’re not alone – your doctors and nurses care about you and your health and we want you to be able to live a high-quality life when you leave the hospital. Whether you have a family member, friend, neighbor, or even your doctor or nurse, someone can help and support you in managing your CHF. If you feel that you’ll have no support when you leave the hospital, please ask to be referred to a social worker.
