Show you’re informed about alcohol and underage drinking by letting your child know they can come to you to ask questions. I bet you don’t want your child getting all their information about alcohol from the Internet or other teenagers. Don’t worry. You don’t have to be an expert on biology or have lots of scary statistics. In fact, your child will probably just find that information boring and unconvincing. Besides, to some kids, scare tactics might just sound like a thrilling challenge. Same goes for telling children that they’re not allowed to drink because they can’t handle it like adults can.

Again, this is an opportunity to ask your child to come up with reasons for not drinking. This can be very effective because the reasons you encourage them to come up with on their own will always be more motivating to them than reasons you outright give to them.
